These were made with new wood. They are false beams (hollow inside) in lieu of solid timbers. It is fairly simple carpentry to make them. Each beam was put together with three 1x6" smooth cedar boards. Because cedar can have a high moisture content, the wood was left to acclimate and dry out inside the home for about two weeks before assembly. The joints are mitered on a 45 degree angle then pin nailed and glued. Lastly stained and sealed. It's a great look!
