Paint kitchen cabinet hinges?

I'm planning to paint my cabinets like this. In this image, they have painted the exposed hinges the same color. I love the look but am worried it will chip with use. Has anyone had any experience painting their hinges? Thanks!

Or metal hinges that closely approximate the cabinet color. I would think a brushed silver could get pretty close, and there's a baskillion hardware choices out on the interwebs.

I agree on the badness of painted hinges. If you really want them the same color as the cabinets, you could take them all off and spray them with a metal paint, presuming you could find a matching color.

I think the hinges in that photo look awful. I would advise you to remove your hinges and paint them with a metal paint, or replace them (which is the better option IMHO).

It could work, however I believe for a serious job the hardware would have to be removed from the cabinet, then replaced when you're finished. That could require slightly longer screws.

DIY people who spray paint small metal parts for cars like to bake them off, that is heat them up to harden the paint. This seems to make the items very tough, even with the off the shelf spray paint. Some guys have tried to sneak newly painted parts into home ovens while the wife is not looking (not recommended/toxic). Some have used toaster ovens acquired for just this purpose. Ovens are run in the garage or outdoors. The bake temperatures in ovens seemed to range from 150 - 200 and the bake time was 15-30 minutes. Others have simply set up a cardboard box with a lightbulb inside and left the parts in over night.

I agree that if you can find and replace is your safest way to go.

If you are painting, you can fill the screw holes, sand, paint and buy hinges that are not exposed.

No to painting hinges...looks tacky and for a small price will be well worth the change :) I love the look of furniture hinges on certain cabinets. Pretty color btw.

I'd not paint the hinges. They'll quickly chip. They'll also look better metallic.
