Hanging curtains with unsymmetrical window studs

I am revamping my daughter's room and decided to move her curtain rod brackets since they are so wobbly (currently in drywall). Upon using a stud finder, I found out that the stud to the left of the window is 6 1/2" out, and the stud to the right is 5" out at its farthest edge. So now I'm kind of stuck.

Do I install the brackets as close to the window while in the studs, and play around with finial placement and the curtains to cover the unequal space?

Should I just take down the rod and put up blinds?

Is there another option I'm missing?

We live in a colder area so curtains are more ideal to keep out the cold in the fall/winter/spring.

Threaded Drywall Toggles…you can put the rod anywhere you want..

+1. Toggle or anchor. There are many styles that can support various amounts of weight, you shouldn't need anything particularly heavy duty for that application

+1. Toggles are probably overkill unless these curtains are made of chain mail.

The EZ Anchor plastic ones hold a good bit more than 50lbs.

I had a heavy curtain rod and curtain that was giving me grief. I ended up hanging the curtain rod from the ceiling using toggle bolts. Worked great.

I'm having the same issue regarding the location of the studs. I don't understand how a toggle or anchor would solve the problem. Even the most heavy duty toggle is still relying on the strength of the drywall to keep the rod in place. I have some pretty heavy black out curtains to hang.

A heavy duty toggle is strong enough in drywall to hang heavy curtains. Mine are heavy and about 10 ft wide.
