I agree that some batiks really jump out at me.

Here's the fabric with a close-up of one of the batiks. The other one is the orange in the middle. This will be a table runner, but it is not the layout. Do you think these colors work?

Bev, I use batiks in scrappy quilts all the time. I think it depends on the color. All three of these quilts have batiks and regular cottons in them.

Your table runner is mostly fall colors - greens, browns, golds, oranges, reds. In my opinion, the batik with a lot of blue in it doesn't blend with the rest - not because it's a batik, but because it's blue. I used to be afraid to mix batiks in too, but if you're careful, I think they work into a scrappy quilt very well. Good luck with your runner.

Thanks, Lois. Your quilts are also so beautiful. The color isn't true on the screen. The piece is really basically purple, burgundy, gold. I wasn't sure it went, but was thinking of the colors of various fall leaves. I'll cut a square and incorporate it and see how it looks. If bad, I'll remove.

Bev, I had posted this quilt recently but I'll do it again. It has batiks and regular fabrics in it and everyone seemed to think it worked out well.

I agree with Lois. I think they look fine together if colors mix.

Thanks, everyone. Rita, that quilt is beautiful, so rich looking. I'm working on the runner, and will post once pieced. Stopped by a friends and picked up four boxes of scraps. Lots of fall colors, so that will help.

Been out of commission with the flu, but recovering. What a stunning quilt, Babbs.

A few years ago our Sunday School class hosted a square dance to raise funds for the children's home. One of the ladies made table runners by just cutting WOF by 9". Since it was rustic, she didn't even hem them. She gave me the fabrics after the dance knowing I was a quilter and making quilts for the home. I don't remember how many there are, maybe 20. I decided to make quilted table runners out of them and sell them to our class and my relatives to make money for the home. I started working on them instead of finishing DD's quilt. Bad girl. Now I'm feeling guilty. So I'm putting them away until I get DD's quilt done. And the rest of her furniture painted. Then I can enjoy working on them more. I told you I can't have too many projects going at once or I start stressing.

Here are the two runners I pieced so far. Now off to finish DD's quilt. Colors aren't true in the first one.
