Its only too much money if you don't love it and can't afford it. I'd do it, if the tile were a different color and the fireplace was two-sided for a tub or into the bedroom. Ahhhh extravagance...

I'd really like to know how much time people actually spend in showers like this. Forget the fireplace- talk about the water waste. Lol- huge showers have replaced huge soaking tubs, and is anybody really any better for it? If you don't spend much time in it, then what's the point, aside from trend? If you do, then one day, you may regret that water-waster (and your bills) just as much as you regretted your huge soaker tub, especially as water costs skyrocket.

Agreed, the "rain room" showers are a huge waste of water, IMO.

At first I thought this was a prank post. Would have to say no to this and would discourage any client from adding this feature.

We stayed at a B&B for the first night of our honeymoon in 99, where the owner had built his own custom suites. Ours had a see-through fireplace at the entrance to the walk-in shower, and we've wanted one ever since. I'd only do it if it has the double purpose of heating the bedroom and bathroom at the same time. I had our bathroom door built and gas plumbed to be able to do it in the new home we had built in 07, but didn't get around to remodeling. I'll be doing it myself, so won't be spending a ton of money, but I still plan to do it when we expand our current house.
