If you're unable to return the TV stand, then I would keep it centered, add drapes, put a tall plant in the corner, and pull the kids' chairs out to the other corner angled to face into the room. When they outgrow those chairs, replace them with a full-sized chair. Hang art on the wall to the left of the TV.

Well returning it i would have to pay shipping and restocking fee. Is it worth sending it back? I keep looking at the space and wondering if longer would look huge.
I like the picture you just made. I need to get drapes. Will drapes look ok there if I don't have them on my big window?
I wanted to do black and white family photos on one side, would that not look right?

You can do family photos. Do an interesting grouping in matching frames and choose compelling photos only. Crop and enlarge them, and don't use those collage frames that hold little snapshots.

I'd do drapes on both the windows in a color close to the wall color.

I hate to say it. Return the stand. The tv blocking the window doesn't work and all the other fiddling just makes it more obvious.

Wait until you get the side tàvles and coffee table in then get the TV stand and move the TV away from under the window it really doesn't look good at all, even in corner if you can but not there.

There is literally no one where else to put the tv stand or the tv. We had it in the corner before and it looked heavy on that one side. The room is odd shaped.

move the TV to the left and keep that window free if you are going longer if not pull the cabinet to the left and the TV with it ,or try placing the cabinet in a corner .

The only purpose for a longer TV stand was so you could move the TV away from the window and still balance the wall. A longer stand with the TV in front of the window doesn't work. Neither does the short TV stand and TV moved to the left; that makes the wall totally unbalanced.

If you wanted to angle the TV in the corner, you'd have to do it on the right side of the window. There isn't enough perpendicular wall space on the left side to do it. But then half the people on the sectional would be unable to watch it.

The curtains help.

You are making total sense with a larger tv stand, I thought it would make it look more even on each side if I had a longer stand. I have been contemplating this the last two days, after seeing how the drapes would look I think I am going to start there. And also add them to the big window, just two panels, so its consistent in the room. I also like how the drapes rod is up high. Once the drapes are up, I will post a picture, thank you for all your help!

For the curtains, I would do something close to the color of your walls, maybe a linen with a bit of texture. The objective here is to hide the window, not to draw attention to it.

I agree with groveralxle for the curtains one more idea would be to install a longer blind to mock the eye ,keep it close so that the glare wouldn't interfere with the TV

I think the best arrangement was the first photoshopped pic posted by groveraxle with the TV in front of the window, with drapes. I like the balance created when a tall plant is placed in the corner and picture/s placed on the other side. Those elements help to draw the eye away from the glaring window and help to balance it all.

Yah, you need something on the other side for balance. Perhaps one larger framed print.

I would also lower the frames 8" or so. They'll be closer to seated eye level and will relate better to the TV.

Ask Cole if you can put his chair in the space under the photos.

question grover, should I add another frame on the left side? or does it look ok? For the right side, should I get a large frame with a family photo in it, or a framed art piece?

I don't understand why people ask for advice then ignore it. The best advice you have received is to get second tv stand or pay to return the first then buy a longer one and move the tv to the left.

I'd probably do art on the right. Your photo gallery could use a piece or two with landscape orientation just for variety.

Lindsay, odd numbers are generally more visually pleasing, but rules are also made to be broken. Don't tie yourself to a rule if it doesn't look right.

I think the six photos look great. No one expects a professional gallery. I have seen some messy looking photo walls and this ain’t one of them! You did good. You do need a table or a chair, something under the photos so they aren’t just hanging in the wind all by themselves. Talk to Cole, he can be reasonable. Or try a table or small chest?

We are saving up for a retractable TV stand. There are many high quality choices sold thru links here on Houzz. I think it is a much nicer look, not to have that dead screen looming there. It would solve your window problem

Personally , I would extend the rod and add 1 panel on each side then remove the 2 small pictures and make both side even with the larger ones .

Can you do 4 on one side and 4 on the other??
