It is not showing it hardwired. The cord is behind the unit, in an electrical socket, that is located behind the unit.

Depending on where in the home you would be placing the unit, and where the electrical sockets are located in your home, the visibility of the cord may differ than in other homes or rooms. There is not a recessed area in the back of the fireplace. The mounting instructions that are included advise of wood-framed dry wall installation. Tools required are: Phillips screwdriver, stud finder, level, tape measure, electric drill, 1/4" wood drill bit, and hammer. Step 1 consists of finding a proper location to mount fireplace. Step 2 consists of locating and drilling wall studs. Step 3 consists of utilizing the dry wall anchors provided. Step 4 consists of installing brackets. Step 5 consists of aligning the fireplace with the brackets, and securing the fireplace to the wall. The last step consists of finishing with the decorative crystals or pebbles. There is no hard wiring or electrical installation required.
