Remove the 4” backsplash and do a tile backsplash, get rid of the clutter on the counter and without seeing the floors hard to comment there. Also for sure a different paint color .

Thanks I was thinking of a subway tile backsplash - maybe white. There is no backsplash at this time. Could be the extension of the counter top.

the trim around the window,,,,what is that? the shape needs to be pared down to regular trim,,,no weird angles.

plain white subway tile?? really?All the beautiful tile on the market?? If you really like it, then this the look you would get. and if you do use it, do the entire wall and all around the windows. (disregard the accent strip)

Or you could pick a nice glass tile w/some color. or a cool glazed ceramic tile or anything besides white subway.

yes, that would work...be careful not to do too cool gray. your cabs are warm toned. some grays can be too 'cold' . Stick w/the blue/gray tones shown in pic 2/3

I would change the counters to remove the corner bump up and add movement/pattern (also under-mount sink). I would add a full backsplash (not 4"). I would also change the molding to straight corners and repaint in a lighter yellow tint beige.
