Stush- Anything you are looking to replace?

Chris, I asked if you had any hahnii 'Streaker'. If so that is the most one I was looking for. The last one you sent me (Hahnii Silver Frost (looks like Gold Hahnii)) is starting to take off now and the Jade Marginated has pups. Real shame that the futura variegated is just hanging on. Still some hope in it. So similar to my futura 'Asahi' which is throwing out some more pups after I stripped them of their pups in spring. Hope the winter months will be better for me this time.

I will check if I have pups on my streaker yet.......not nearby and I have not looked at it closely but most are starting to pup now. Do you have the S. senagambica variegated still? How about the hahni 'Silver Marginated'?

The S. senagambica you sent me grew very large but has no variegation. It even has some caudex, i.e., "fat root" branching at the base of mother plant. Very neat and might be rare.

The Silver Marginated had some crown rot but recovered from it and just now started to grow.

The leaves are much longer and skinnier than my regular Senegambica. With such a large root system and new pup on the way, I planted it in a slightly larger pot.

Looking really healthy. Good root system.

Roots on old Senegambica almost formed a caudex until the original stock died out.

I still got some Moonshine and Eve to send out to anybody since two of the people never responded back to me.

They look great Stush and I love to see them potted up already!! I am sure you will do well with them!! senegambica seems to like to push itself out of the pot for me......esp. young plants in smaller pots. Fun plant!

Thanks Chris, I noticed that it is much taller then mine. Also will have to thin out any reversions. I think I read where you had to thin out your stock to get the most variegation out of it. Hope I find homes for the out casts. Hate to throw any plant away.

If you get no takers I would love to try them. It is awesome to see different sans. Stores and nurseries here offer the standard Sans Trifasciata. Still wishing to find pine bark fines in Pacific Northwest, but I will make their dirt as well suited for them as possible.

Laurie, Regular potting soil with perlite added is all you need. I use poultry grit with potting soil.

What sans are you looking for? Regular S. senegambica? I can part with some. Message me.

Chris, how can you say regular senegambica is boring?? I love mine. Both of them equally.

Ok, this is hard, but I have to explain. My brother has been battling a rare and difficult form of cancer alone for many years. He lived 3 hrs from me. He has conquered it so many times, and been so grateful, such a special uncle, so missed but this time when it came back, we found there was nothing to do. We moved him to my house, I missed about 3 weeks of work, keeping him here, so he could be with family. It was right at the time of this post. I completely forgot, and was honestly overwhelmed with the intensity of what was going on, Stush. I am so sorry. I never saw your post to get a hold of you, and Cassandra, yours either. Stush, Next year if such an kind offer is out there, I promise I will just sit with the lap top until I connect. Thanks for the thought. I really appreciate it. I have only grown sans for 2 years. I was mildly enjoying them, waiting for some growth. I found them a little uneventful in my dark neck of the woods. But when they went outside for the summer and started pupping and those pups grew like 5 inches in a few weeks, I went bonkers. I am in love with these guys now and totally get the obsession. Succulents were a completely alien animal to me, and you have no idea how many times I looked thru your posts for help with the Sans. Thank you....

and Cassandra, I am near Olympia Washington. But still wonder where you found the fines. Congrats. I still look whereever I go. I am anxious to hear what you think of it.

Laurie, What can anybody say. All I can say is I will pray for you the caregiver and your brother. I have been prayed over and have seen God's work with me so I will pass it along also.

Laurie, I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. I'm sure no one on here was upset about your lack of response, it is just a garden forum after all.

I also have seen God's work in my life, and am a living testament to God moving mountains. I will also pray for your brother.

On a lighter note, I found pine bark at lowes. It was labeled as pine bark mulch. But at closer inspection it's not very decomposed like some mulches are. I'm not home but I can take a picture of the bag later. It did have some larger pieces and a little bit of sapwood that I had to pick out. But not too bad.

I bet I have the same thing Cassandra. It does have some big chunks, but it was not much trouble to sort out for one repot, at least.

I just felt so bad that I could totally forget something and not recall it until I was reading it. My brother was the best, and I am so happy he is free. He lived 5 years longer than he was supposed to about 3 times, so there is much to be grateful for.

but you’re right, when they leave us after suffering for so long, you can only feel that they are now free! I went through all this with my dad, and although he tried to hold on for whatever reason, we all wanted his agony to be over so we begged him to let go... May they Rest In Peace!

Oh Laurie Dear...You have my most sincere sympathy..It's a difficult time to go through...

I was very, very close to my sister growing up...we were on the same Ball Club & we played for years in A division., Then we worked together for many, many yrs...But then she passed 3 months after my son was born...in 93. I will always believe, The Lord takes & gives...I think he timed it that way..she was in her 40's...I think of her every single day. I also talk to her a lot. We all grieve differently. Do what's best for you...prayers.

Laurie, this place is just like anywhere else. It's the people here that make it so special. I too was overwhelmed with thankfulness when I first came here. Just like school districts, it's the good teachers that make it great. Loose them and the whole system goes down. I was lucky to have great teachers growing up, and here as well.

Hi sorry I haven't been on this board in a while. I am still very interested, but it has turned cold here as in snow and freezing. I never gave up hope just wish it had been sooner. Would a heat pack work now.
