Freestanding Tub

I am in a dilemma. I do not take baths very often, but when I do, I would like it to be a fairly good tub. Plus I want a tub to look and feel good. I narrowed to two tubs. 1. Not a bad price: Mirabelle Solid surface: This is new and sight unseen. http://m.fergusonshowrooms.com/decor/product.pl?Ntt=mirabelle+ocala&Ns=AvailabilitySort|0||Primary_Finish|1||Sort_Order|1&term=mirabelle+ocala&mid=487209&fh=White

2. The other is the Victoria & Albert Amiata tub.

Do you have thoughts? One would be $2100, the other $3900.

I need the tub to be 67" or less and about 32" wide. I want a good depth to overflow.

Thanks!

Those size constraints are for the tub dimensions so that there is plenty of room around the tub.... It will leave 6 inches to the back, 48" inches to the front and 30" to the sides. There have been tons of freestanding tubs that fit that.... I don't want to go any longer because I am 5'6". These two tubs are two person tubs....

in any case, make sure you SIT in an actual tub before buying. yeah, it looks nutz, like the people laying around in mattress stores, but you want the tub to fit you if you are paying that much money for it. (divide the cost by the number of times you are likely to bathe in it, including the cost of heating the water.... a spa weekend twice a year might be cheaper).

There are great ones from Maax IMO 6” at the back will not allow cleaning on that wall down to the floor and I think before any thing else is said I for one would like to see the space.

amiata from vic/albert in my bathroom, about 6 inches clearance to back, maybe a little less and have not had any problems cleaning behind it. I thought I wasn't a tub person at all but this tub is so lovely. comfortable and water stays hot.

lauracam that looks beautiful!!! What type of faucet/tub filler did you use?

Brizo Baliza in polished nickel , mounted on ledge behind tub. I didn't think there was room for a floor filler and I like this so much better anyway.

Just found this string...designing new build and researching tub options. Really like the Vic/Albert line as it seems to have best of both worlds...solid material/construction in the cast iron tradition in a lighter weight but still heavier than acrylic. Anyone else have experience with Victoria & Albert soaking tubs?

@lauracam Hello, I came across your post and i bought the same tub and am doing the partial wall with faucet out of the top like yours. What is the width of your partial wall? How much space do you have between your partial wall and your tub? I am thinking of doing a 6” or 7” deep partial wall...my faucet spout is 8”. Thank you.

@puterputz , Hi my partial wall is 8 1/2 inches deep with the stone top, there is 3 inches between the closest edge of the tub and the wall and my faucet is 10 inches and mounted in the center of the top. Hope this helps, I love this tub and no problems cleaning behind. Bathroom is been done over 4 years now and still as happy as day one!

@lauracam Thank you and yes that helps...now Im not sure..lol I was doing a 7” ledge and my faucet is only 8”. Do you think I can make this work with a 7” ledge, maybe have the faucet 1” closer to the front? I need to make this faucet work thats only 8” as it is the only fixture that will work in the collection. i have a handheld wand also. Thank you so much!

The spout has to be long enough to reach over the tub, you may want to consult a plumber to be sure
