Dark and uninviting front porch

Hi there! We have a small, covered front porch, which is perfect for shade, but makes our house look dark and uninviting. Im having trouble coming up with ideas that will brighten it up without making it look artificially bright (e.g., lights of some sort.) I know the house color doesn't help, but my husband won't budge on it (especially bc we JUST had it painted) and even when we bought the house and it was a very sun bleached pale yellow/cream, the front porch still looked dark.

You could paint your front door the same color as you trim.

Paint front door lime or orange or red. Lighting. Hang something in front on blue area under chimney.

Perhaps you could try adding some pots of red geraniums to porch or pots of multi colored petunias .

Some ideas. White and green plantings. Perhaps boxwood and standard iceberg roses

This is not a cheap solution, but it is possible to install skylights in a porch overhang.

Other ideas: bring in as much white as you can into what you have around and under
the overhang in terms of the furniture, plantings, and whatever else.
Maybe you could have a mirror finish gazing ball in your front planting
area. Those may help reflect a little more light into that area.

You’re missing the third white column. Adding it would help frame the front door.

Like the idea of painting front door trim color or even a pale yellow. Also the 3rd column to frame the front door. A cute welcome mat and flowers in spring and I think it's great.
