You have a very nice room and a larger rug will only enhance it. I'm a bit concerned that the rug you like will overwhelm everything else in the room and that you may tire of such a bold pattern. There are contemporary rugs that are not quite as striking, and I would keep looking for that perfect one. There are many rug stores and places like overstock and wayfair also have a large selection, to name just two. I wonder if you would consider adding a chair or two for a more complete look unless you already have one and I'm just not seeing it.

Given the smaller room and lots of accessories and art and also given the natural feel of the room, I would head towards a wool/hemp rug. If you moved the picture over the couch to the collage wall, then you could add a large piece of colorful artwork and add complimentary pillows.

I do not love your rug choice for reasons stated about.......but what about an emerald green color? The color is very on trend now and it should be easy to find a rug with that color in it but still have it feel tempered in the room...you have a nice balance now and a different color with enhance the room and give it a new look.

My first thought was a yellow toned natural rug. I do like the one you picked but the one thing I questioned is the color of the yellow. The rug looks to be a cleaner yellow than the yellow in the room which reads more muted. That would bother me but may not you.

I would not go with the Moroccan rug. Stick to your gut and put some color in your rugs. I love the rugs celery girl picked out, they really brighten up the room.

I like the rug you selected and add your color with your accessories and incorporate some black as well. The rug shouldn't overwhelm/take over this small room. Your best bet is to bring home a few styles and test them out.

I didn't click on your rug link, but then saw it photoshopped by celerygirl and think it looks wonderful! I much prefer it to any of the others pictured. You've got a great room and obviously know your own style. I wouldn't question it now. Get the rug you like!

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I think I've actually decided to go with the Moroccan trellis. Because I change out my colors for the season and change artwork around a lot, I figured having something more versatile would work better. And hopefully it'll open up the room some more too with the light color and open pattern (although it doesn't seem small in here due to the large window and huge open kitchen/dining that you can't see).

Glad you went with the Moroccan rug. That would have been my choice. It will give you much more flexibility with changIng accessories. I've also never been one to want a rug to be the star of a room.

Going with something with a bit of color could work well for you. If you switch out colors regularly just make sure that the color you pick will still work well with all the colors you switch out.
