amazon is not a seed vendor. You would be buying from individuals who just happen to sell their own seeds on amazon or from a few licensed seed vendors selling their overstock at discounted prices.

There are so many A+ reputable seed vendors why deal with with second hand suppliers or individuals trying to make a few $ selling their own saved seed? It is a do-at-your-own-risk option at best.

Ditto on Dave's comments. While some vendors on Amazon are reputable, garden forums (including this one) are full of comments about problems with independent online seed vendors. Personally, I would only resort to such vendors for something not available elsewhere... and read the reviews of the seller before ordering. Same applies to sellers on ebay or any other online storefront.

I do order seeds from Amazon when I have a gift card. Vendors I've been happy with are Hirt's gardens (they offer free shipping if you order 3 or more packs of seeds) and David's garden seeds (although expensive). I've had a few other vendors I've been happy with, but can't think of the names. However, I have had a few seeds purchased from Amazon which either never germinated or were not what I ordered.

Agree with rhizo. Given the many first-class, legit seed vendors with impeccable reputations for quality and service why even consider the third class sources?

Just curious. I've searched Google for "XXXXX SEED" and been linked to Amazon.

I bought some chili pepper seeds from Amazon.

The seeds germinated - the peppers did not do well, but that was my fault.
