Drainage issues? Blue hollies like really good drainage.

No dogs around. These hollies have been in the ground for around 15 years. It has been a wet early summer followed by a really dry rest of summer. I just don't know what to think. Could it be a disease? The first one died in 2-3 weeks time. That is really fast, in my opinion.

Very wet early summer followed by very dry late summer could help trigger root rot. More likely in varieties that need good drainage.

Holly gets a Phytophthora Leaf and Twig Blight when it's on the wet side. Leaves black and drop.
