Peninsula or island?

I need help deciding on the direction of our kitchen. The house has tall ceilings and an open floor plan that flows from the living room/ family room to the kitchen to the dining space.

The kitchen itself is 12 ft wide wall to wall... so a wide galley.

I came up with two designs that keeps the sink and appliances close to its original area to keep construction costs low.

The other idea moves everything 180 degrees and incorporates a long and narrow island with a 14ft bifold door. But I don't think that's realistic unless I spend a lot of money to beef up the wall to hold up the new wider patio door and ceiling.

So are you leaning more towards flipping the kitchen 180 degrees to allow for a big 14 ft bifold patio door?

I'm worried about 1) not having enought of an aisle way either behind the counter stools or inside the kitchen itself (If I remember I left 45 inches behind the counter for the seating and 40 inches between counters for the main kitchen space)... going through the kitchen is the only way to the dining room 2) add cost redoing all the elctical and plumbing to flip 180 degrees and route some to the new island as well and 3) lots of strtuctural engineering for the bifold doors... would need a 14 ft steel header + probably steal pillars on either side to keep the wall from bowing outwards from the roof... or install exposed joists running across the room to pull the wall in.
