11ft ceiling in family room

Hello,

I am in serous dilemma. We are building a house which will have 11 ft ceiling in kitchen and family room. The upper floor has master bedroom above the family room so we have to put steps to raise it. My dilemma is does that look good as i cant find any pictures of how will the master bedroom look with 2-3 steps to it, though it will be huge and a private unit.

I would keep the steps outside the master. Designing a room that contains elevation changes might be annoying. If the steps can only be in the room, I personally would delete the 11ft ceiling below.

Yes. In fact, I think it's kind of nice. Steps define it as a more private space.

it's nice as long as you don't have to traverse them to, say, the bathroom.

No the master bathroom is attached to master bedroom !
