"See them green plants? Some of them striped with white or yellow? Those are hostas!" I've had people ask me the same question.

Most common reply when mentioning Hosta. " I wish I could grow those, the slugs eat them".

I think it's astounding that some still don't know what a hosta is, lol but what is even more astounding is the lack of power of observation.... the admirer of your garden just didn't get the obvious - the predominant use of like plants such as your hostas. She/he? probably got blown away by your lovely colour scheme and design and didn't focus on the details at all - eyes glazed over. Just when you think you've heard it all....... ;-)

Ask 100 in my town and maybe (with a lot of luck) 5 will know what hostas are...

We've had visitors to our daylily scape show which has 200+ scapes displayed on numerous tables and large signs declaring it's a daylily show--but some of the visitors will ask where's the daylilies or daylilies don't look like that!

Some people have to argue the obvious:)
