Landscape ideas?

I have a fence line with a semi-raised garden area that needs help. There are two issues. First, it is not level and second, it takes a quick decent into the corner of the two adjoining fence lines. I am trying to figure out how to create a small front retaining wall, maybe two feet high, that will make it easy to keep dirt/ground cover from getting into my law. I also need to figure out how to work with the adjoining fence areas. Do I leave the adjoining fence area alone and stop the raised garden before the ground tapers off? The entire area is 24' before it begins to drop off. I have a bunch of cinder blocks I would like to use for this project, as well.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but if you're thinking of building a 2' high wall and piling soil behind it against the fence, that's a bad idea. You'll rot your fence.

Give us a photo of the whole fence wall from further back and maybe you'll get some suggestions. These closeups don't show us enough.

Any fill in the garden area would be below the fence line. If I went two cinder blocks high on the front edge it would be 1 inch below the fence line.

Aha. I get it now. I would go around the corner, but then I wouldn't do a straight retaining wall either. I'd do something more interesting like this:

Nice fence! Did you put the garden in or was it a previous owner? Do you know why it isn't level?

What happens during a really heavy rainfall? Does stormwater run under the 25 ft length of fence? If you level the area for a retaining wall how would it affect stormwater runoff for you and your neighbors? Depending on the answers, you may want to plant a tough groundcover and have the good people of Houzz help you with a design without a retaining wall.

Maybe an expert will weigh in on this issue, i am a newbie trying to solve lots of stormwater management problems, so I see them everywhere!

You could leave the gravel next to the fence. Then come out 18"-24" and build a raised bed not touching the fence at all. The cinder blocks could be on the back side with more attractive block on the front.

No water runoff. The garden area was this way when I moved in. I just need a simple way to create a nice barrier so the ground cover-gravel at this point-does not fall into the lawn.

I would like to stay at the fence line so I do not cut into limited grass area.
