Agree with celerygirl, you might consider lowering it a couple of inches and center it... nothing at all with it!!!!!!

Yep- center it, and bring it down, even (ish) with the top of the doorway. Then it has natural company- the detail on the wall below. Cool pic

I would hang it approximately 6" or so above the wainscoting.

move it to the right and down a bit. It should be centered directly over that middle square, and no higher than the trim of the doorway.

how about a bench underneath it?

or a slim console table, or double ottomans.

love the last blue/gold one! make sure it isn't too long. The z gallerie one is nice too. maybe find one a bit shorter.
