We are okay here in Winter Garden. Lots of tree damage, but people, cats and house are fine. Power was out for around 15 hours but it's been back on for a couple of hours. No TV, internet or land line yet.

That was some storm! I'd love,to know how much rain we had and how strong the wind was.

We came through fine and all my loved ones, that's all I can ask for. No damage to the houses except for LOTS of debris and fallen trees, one was the only large live oak on our property, completely fallen over, when I get a chance I'll post photos. Also quite a few pine trees. Haven't heard the latest numbers on the wind or rain here in Brooksville, all I know is I do NOT want to ever go through more than a level one, which is all I know about what we got here. I was so scared for my two sisters, one in Lakeland and one in Eastern Hillsborough and as I listened on the radio they were getting up to 100 mph winds. The power just came on - went out last night at 8:15. I am thankful it's already back on. Back in 2004 it took them a couple of weeks to restore power on this road from what we hear. I hope all of you out there are doing OK and will be able to get back to normal very soon.

I heard from Sharon and Kate this morning. They are ok, minimal damage. Sharon and Clay are still at their daughter's house. He went to see if their power was back on, but I haven't heard since then.

Glad you have not lost your sense of humour. All these uncalled for events affect those of us "of an age" in different ways, glad you are sleeping, I can't.

Keep smiling all! Better days are coming.

I'm so happy to hear you are all safe and sound. What a disaster! The clean-up will be long and frustrating, I'm sure. Try to keep your spirits up and your sense of humor. (Easy for me to say, huh?) Keep us all posted on your progress.

Wow!! I'm a week late checking in, and I have been alive then entire time. I think! What a week!! Storm started on Sunday, right? We were sooooo worried about our families in Cape Coral and in Tampa!! and Ocala! Weeellll, this sneaky Irma backhanded us here on the East side but good! We are in Brevard County - near the Space Center/Cocoa Beach area. Yikes!! Long story short, our entire house flooded about 6 to 8 inches, I'd say. What a M E S S. and, we had my 95 year old mother in law here with us because we didn't want her alone during the storm. Needless to say, we have been working dawn to dusk (who had lights, anyway!!! Hahahaha).

ALL carpets were ruined, all baseboards and tack strips were pulled up as fast as we could to try to save walls. Once the power came back on, our BIL drove over here from Tampa with two dehumidifiers and box fans - no generators were available anywhere! So, drying out!! God's Providence, I know!! ...we had a guy here to remodel our tiny, mini little master bathroom...he was/is a true God Send. He had started the little job and had to quit because of Irma, came back ASAP after and resumed HELPING us get this mess cleared and now he has the job to tile the entire house. No more carpet for me. Pray that FEMA will give us a wee bit of assistance - who knows, right? And I realize there are folks in LOTS worse shape than we are! At least we have a house still standing, but it'll be a long road back to our cozy little pad that we've been so comfy in for 40 years come October 1!! It'll be a whole new look with no time for shopping. I just told the guy to use the same tile that I had picked for that bathroom because I could not even make one more decision. Soooo I wonder what my house will look like in six or 8 weeks!! LOL

Color me VERY THANKFUL to be healthy, happy, and have a home. (But...whaaaa...my sewing machines are both in storage til we can get things back into the house.) Hope everyone is doing well and ok!!

Hi, Beth - I hope your cleanup and repairs go smoothly! So glad you and your family are safe.

We finally got our internet/TV/land line back last night. And according to the National Weather Service, in Winter Garden we had sustained winds of 110 mph for several hours and around 12" of rain in 24 hours! That's like a whole months' worth of rain in one day. Fortunately we are elevated a bit and have good drainage, so it wasn't a problem. There's a pasture near us that still has standing water in it.

Beth, I'm sorry for your flooding but glad no lives were lost and your house is still standing. A plus.....no more carpet! No flooding in our house or our front yard but there's still water standing in our backyard jungle area. DH has worked the 20 years we've lived here in putting yard debris from the front yard to the higher ground going across the back of the house.......extending it further away from the house and building it at least as high as the house is.
