I agree it looks a bit odd. Can you post pics of the rest of the room so we can get idea of the rest of the space?
Also, are your curtains always closed? Looks like you have a beautiful large window and potential for great focal point, which is why I ask. CLosed white curtains aren't a great focal point.

I'd probably add a table in front of the window with a floral arrangement or plant on top, and move the floral chair over in front of book case, maybe with a tall lamp lamp or tall plant next to it. But don't quote me on that yet because I'm waiting on your camera batteries to charge and see the whole space!

Yeah, the first photo really does look awkward. But I honor your decision for keeping the curtains, I suggest you put table in-front of the white curtain and the white chair on the left side (where the bookcase is located) perpendicular to the recliner where they meet halfway in-front of the table that I earlier suggested. Cuz' having a table near the bookcase makes it more even from odd. :)
