We are bumping out the back of our house to create a bigger kitchen. While excavating for the foundation we realized the sliding glass door is designed to open up into a hill, which will have a 4' retaining wall in front of it. We do not want to excavate further into the hillside, and the space looks pretty claustraphobic. However, where the kitchen sink and to the right of it is great open outdoor space. How would you reorient the kitchen to perhaps relocate the sliding glass door and still maintain the basic open function of the floor/living area/dining/kitchen? Anyone? Thank you in advance for any ideas!
