It comes with a transducer and a dimmer switch. What else do you need to make this work? You said you'd like to use fewer than 10 so just use how many ever in series as you wish.

The kitchen and office are separate rooms. They need two power sources. So this system on its own won't be able to do that.

I got led strips for under kitchen cabs, but I have plugmold there. Fairly inexpensive, easy, and different sizes, at local diy store. Mine are pretty short underneath two single cabs.

mercurygirl, so do your lights turn on from a wall switch?

I have under cabinet lighting in my corner prep space only. I started out with 3 DIY strips from the home center store ($75) linked together and plugged in. About a year later, an electrician wired it to a switch (about $300).

The wall switch isn't shown in the second pic, but it is the switch by the window to the left of the paper towel holder. It originally was the sink light switch only, but now has two switches, under cabinet lights and sink light.

I've already spoken with inspired led... They are way over priced. I have experience with LED light strips but I've only used the ones that plug into a regular wall plug. I've never dealt with ones that are hooked up to 40w dimmable transformer then switches....

is from Inspired LED. I thought you mentioned this is what you wanted. Sorry i am trying to help but a little confused on what you want to achieve with your lighting project.

J Lozano, no. They plug into plugmold under the cabs and have motion sensors so you just wave a hand under them. Purchased last spring when it still got dark pretty early and they made the kitchen much more functional!

Than do not install 10 lights. If you look at image it says up to 3 - 42 led and 6..

So you can install just one, or two.

You run 110v wire from the switch to under cabinet, [install armored wire from wall stud to transformer] and mount the transformer underside of the cabinet. If you want to use the plug provided than outlet close to underside of the cabinets are needed.

I like the idea these... however, I want to have a regular wall switch.

And to have custom lengths (ex: led light strips).

J, the ones I have are 12", but I think you can add as many as needed in a line, no idea about using a switch. However, if you're building, a good electrician should be able to set up whatever you need. Good luck!
