I did see Ghibli at the stone yard. here are the two slabs for comparison. Do these go together ? The ghibli looks like it has some pink w which might clash with the RB ?

My quartzite is a heck of a lot busier than the RB you're using and I'm using it on my island and my perimeter counters. I did the same thing in my condo with the Typhoon Bordeaux which is also very, very busy and it looked spectacular. Just be sure to go to the fabricator to decide where to put the slabs.

You can pick "quieter" areas for the perimeter, and busier areas for the island. (Again, that's what I'm doing with my Fascination quartzite slabs)

As long as you keep the other elements somewhat calmer, there is no reason you can't use the RB throughout the kitchen. Personally it's what I would do. I wouldn't muddy it up with a secondary material, (granite or quartz).

And lastly, while it looks very busy in a full slab looking at it vertically, it automatically "quiets down" a bit when it's horizontal.

Stop second guessing yourself, and use the granite throughout the kitchen.

I don't see your Ghibil example as having the right shades to fit in. Natural stone variances of course make your choices fluid and difficult. But if you can keep looking I always feel the reward comes.

My designer says the more figured stones date the kitchen, the new trend is more subdued. As much as I love some of the dramatic stones, I am going with a simple Diamond black satin on the island and solid surface on counters.

I'm just gonna say what many others have wisely said before: don't worry about backsplash. Get your counters right, and then look at the backsplash issues. That's advice I agree with.

I agree with cpartist. I wouldn't try to mix two different granites. A solid surface, perhaps in a cream, could work for the parameter.

hmmm... havent given a thought to backsplashes, not joining that club !

OH! I love that cream/gray floor tile! Love it! Yes, I do like the Blue Dunes in the photo. Do you have a whole box of the floor tile? I would lay it out near the slab. I would order a box of the tile before I placed the order for the whole thing. I think that would help you see not only whether the color coordinates with the slab, but whether both floor and countertop with movement is what you're going for.

I think it's hard to tell from one tile whether the floor as a whole will look busy. Can't wait to see what you pick!

So so in a few years when figured stones are back in style, and subdued stones are out of favor, what are you going to do?

In other words, get what you love, and don't worry about what is trendy today.
