finding the right carpet

Hello

I bought a dark brown sofa for my family room. Unfortunately I can't decide what kind of carpet would look good. I'm looking for a nice modern carpet. Need some suggestions.

I just want to add that the family room wall paint color is kilim Beige.

Do you mean carpet, like wall-to-wall, or an area rug? In either case, I'd look for something on the lighter side, since this sofa will already darken the room quite a bit...

No I'm looking for a area rug. And I agree that the carpet should be lighter but do you have any nice carpet designs in mind which would look good with that sofa?

Just about anything can look ok with a brown leather sofa. What is the flooring in the room? What colors are there, what other furniture? Surely this isn't an empty VR cube with just the brown couch -- design needs context!

Actually I moved in in a new house few months ago so I don't have much things in my family room right now. I can send you pictures. In this picture you can see the dark carpet. The room looks too dark that's why I'm looking for a lighter carpet.

This bloated lump needs a bright, vibrant rug or a light one like a Berber or other North African rug. Don’t consider anything smaller than 8’x10’.

I have another question. Would a light carpet look good even with the light beige tiles? I think maybe the carpet wouldn't pop out that much.

I think if it's the right tone, and has enough contrast lighter can work. The rug you posted could work I think. You don't want to go very dark with the brown sofa. Are you interested in more color? Or a specific color?

Yes I don't want to go very dark with the sofa. Actually I could go with any color. Just need few suggestions. If you have any other carpets in mind which would look good the sofa then please share

Finally received the carpet. I'm sharing pictures now. The sofa looks black in the pictures but it's dark brown actually.

I think it works with all your colors, and I think the pattern gives your room some interest. Do you have any plans for Art over the sofa? I spent a few months shopping for art myself, so I have a pretty good size idea book. You don't want to wimp out on the size for that large a wall!
