Linda, I need to make new leaders for my frame, too. The current ones are made of fabric that looks like pillow ticking but has quite a bit of give to it, and I think that's what causes a lot of my quilting issues. I need some nice, sturdy canvas.

I hope to get some quilting time on Sunday, but tomorrow I'm going to the Jacksonville quilt show! Woohoo! Nigel (my new Mini Cooper) and I are going on a road trip. I look forward to this show every year.

Went for a sleep study test last night...of course, hardly slept. LOL So not doing much today...think I'll quilt!

I am having a hard time settling at one job. The basement flood has knocked me for a loop. I start a task, don't quite finish, move on to something else and on and on. Lots of lying down in between. I know we were more fortunate than many others, who lost everything, but it still is disheartening.

And my quilting enthusiasm is tuckered out too. But I do try to do a few blocks a day for the GGDS' quilts. Anyone have any extra energy pills?? Will pay for postage!

Almost finished with quilting Twinkling Stars, nothing fancy this time, just a grid pattern every 2 inches with walking foot. Might get it done today. Taking the son and family out to eat later - he's been helping clear out some hurricane damage the last 2 Saturdays and of course won't take money for it. Grandson didn't turn it down, though and we were glad to give him some spending money for whatever techie toy he might be saving for. DH wants me to hold the ladder so he can get on the roof and take the plywood off of the dormer windows today. I told him it's up to him, there could still be another hurricane coming through and he would have to put it back again, hate for him to be climbing up there like that with his bad foot but he insists. The ground is still soaking wet out there and there is still so much to do. I have a feeling there will be no fall veggie garden this year. And the mosquitos are so thick from all the standing water.

I had fun at the quilt show. I was thinking it's kind of silly to drive for five hours (there and back) to spend a couple of hours at a quilt show, but I really enjoy it! There were many, many traditional quilts this year. There were lots of modern ones and art ones, too, but definitely more traditional ones than I've seen in a long time.

I bought a "mystery box" from one of the vendors. It was $40 for a box with 5 yards of fabric and a pattern. The only hint was three small paint chips hanging on the box. The one I picked had chips in dark red, dark blue, and a dark sage-green. I waited till I got home to open the box, and the fabrics are a reddish-orange, black pinstripe, gold, dark green, and a black-background small floral print. The pattern is a pinwheel star with sashing. I like it! It will make a 42 x 55 quilt. Now to get around to making it...

Donna, that mystery quilt sounds like the Brown Bag mystery I did last spring. I paid more than $40 though! Can't wait to see your quilt.
