Hello!

I've been lurking around the citrus forum after purchasing a Meyer Lemon from FW about a year ago. Thanks to all the advice on here I've kept it alive and even healthy, but in the process I also acquired the citrus bug and now find myself the owner of a finger lime, a lakeland limequat and a rangpur lime.

The problem with my new container garden is my winter situation. The meyer lemon is going to be able to come into my apartment over the winter but I do not have room for the other three trees (I mean I think I do but my husband refuses to put up with squeezing through a forest to get to our front door haha).

I live in Southern Oregon so I know winter protection is a must, but my best option for storage is the unheated, unventilated and unattached garage. I know not to fertilize and to water sparingly and basically just hope for dormancy so I don't lose foliage, and really that it's a crap shoot and I've got to hope for the best.

I guess what I'm looking for opinions on is:

1.) will the fact that the garage is unventilated hurt the trees? It will likely be closed most of the time but I suppose I could open it a few hours in the afternoon each day for air circulation. And there is a car in there but we use it pretty sparingly - would the carbon monoxide be an issue?

2.)would there be any benefit in buying a frost blanket to cover the trees while in the garage? I don't think it ever gets below freezing in there but if it does would the blankets even help?

Yikes - I just realized how long this was. Sorry it was a novel, but if you have any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!
