Going into dormancy with fluctuating temperatures

Battling bermuda grass in my Fescue here in San Jose. Planning to use Ornamec shortly. I've read that you use Ornamec when the bermuda grass prepares for dormancy, that being when overnight temps drop into the 50's for a few consecutive days. But what does the grass do if it goes into the 50's (or even 40's) for a few days, but then you have a warm up where nights are back in the low-mid 60's? Will bermuda grass cease going into dormancy, reverse itself? Should I wait until the temperatures are solidly and consistently down in the low range? Or is now any particularly vulnerable time that if I hit it with Ornamec and it draws it into the roots, it has that to go off of as it reverses??

I'm sure I'm overthinking it, but I did use Ornamec last fall probably too late (or maybe too high of concentration) and my grass looked very sad after that.
