Zone 10a outside is best and forget the lights

Poncirusguy... I dont have an option to put them on the other, south, side of the house due to my HOA.

Even if you can't do south side, outside with half way decent sunshine, rain, good bugs to counter bad bugs, will still be better than inside. Do you have any options for outside besides the HOA non allowed south facing?

I don't think you have enough light in terms of wattage. I have two high intensity (100w, 90w) UFOs overhead plus three LED 40w at the edges. I have decent growth through winter, when I can keep aphids and mites under control. I run 16 hours a day once they come in. And the LEDs since they don't have a real heat issue, I push as close to the plants as possible while still allowing light to reach as much as possible. I've had branches and leaves grow right beside them.

Hi FruityPaws, are your lights drawing those wattages from the wall? Most LEDs don't use the max wattage that they're listed for. It would be great to know the wattage output of your lights as a baseline. I just bought some lights that are coming to me in the mail but I still have an itch to buy more LEDs. If the lights I got are enough, I can finally stop looking at grow lights and look at trees!

I look up the lumen output by range and other specs later on this evening.

Anthony, just be sure to check out the PPFD (photosynthetic photon flux density) as well as lumen. LEDs lights are measured differently because they only put out specific colors sometimes. And lumens only cover light that are visible to human eyes so the colors that we don't see, they don't measure even though plants can see/use them
