Tricolour Ficus dropping leaves/ potentially dying

There are quite a few threads on this, but I've trawled and to no avail.

I've had a run of the mill ficus for a few months and after 2 weeks of inconsistent watering, my plant's been on the low.

This plant sits in indirect light, a metre from a west facing window. The soil is a standard potting soil and my watering habits were once every week once the top soil was dry.

I repotted this plant into a self watering pot ( and I may have over watered at this point). What's happened in a massive increase in the amount of foliage lost.

I'd estimate half of the plant has lost leaves ( in 3 weeks). Initially, these were leaves that browned and then fell off, while this morning, a leaf that looked perfectly fine gave in.

There's a sprinkle of "white substance" on the leaves ( which, is also on a neighbouring ficus, but not really affecting it)

I'm not sure what to do, this plant is growing really slowly and I may end up with no leaves soon!
