Took out my camera - some citrus photography

My son is taking a digital photography class so there has been a camera handy. My daughters have been sprouting butterflies from caterpillars on our parsley plant. When they hatch, we let them go :-) Anyways, here are a few shots just for fun.

Thank you guys! Cory, I have often left them, but this year I find as soon as they get plump, the birds eat them :-(. These last few weeks, many eggs were laid and we got them when they were tiny (like 8!). I put them in a little vase and kept feeding them fresh parsley from my organic containers. I had to keep lots of paper towels spread out to catch the poop lol! Once the started wandering away, we put them in a butterfly habitat (a little mesh cage) where they formed their chrysalis otherwise I'd find them climbing around my kitchen! Once they hatch, we release them! My daughters were so excited!!!

Yes, the photos are those I took. In my previous life I was a professional photographer. It's nice to pick up the camera once in a while...thank you guys!

Laura what is the first picture with all the tiny fruitlets? Love the last one with the butterfly the best :)

I'm glad it worked. Thanks for looking Susanne. That one is my nules clementine. It has a few larger fruitlets, but those were just formed from a bloom flush. I know most will not stay, but hopefully a few will hang on. That butterfly had hatched out of its chrysalis, maybe an hour before I took that pic. It hung on the same branch all night and then this morning, when the sun hit it and warmed it up, it flew away :-). It is the second one we've released. We have about six more that have yet to hatch.

Nice pictures Laura. My cousin found a caterpillar and caged it to show her grandchildren the stages of transforming itself into a beautiful butterfly too. She thought it got out once but spotted it again under some leaves. Then she thought she lost him again but found the chrysalis (sp?) and watched it for days. The weather turned cold at night and she was afraid it might kill it, but one day she came out and found the most beautiful monarch butterfly she has ever seen. It has stayed in her yard this week but will probably take off soon for Mexico. Her yard has many attractive flowers there and I guess it is feasting up for its long flight.

Your photos are amazing. The colors are gorgeous! Did you take the photos yourself or was your son practicing with the camera? My favorite photo was the second one with all the flowers in sight from top to bottom!

Laura, fantastic pics!! I don't even get butterflies to land on mine like that. such great growth and resounding vitality on your trees, Great job growing them in difficult places. You give everyone hope in making theirs look just as nice. I love your light idea in which I am getting ready!
