Stop listening to your friend and do what you like. I am not wild about grays or blues generally, but I still think the silver strand looks better than the red.

It does look better. I would have gone with something in the sage green tones but if you like the color keep it, it doesn't look "hospital blue" to me. I'm not crazy about the red accents with that color but ( like your friend) I'm just adding my two cents.

I like it better than the red too. However, cool grays and warm wood tones don't bring out the best in each other. It seems to be a little warm on my screen - more of a green undertone - but monitors don't give true colors. Also, if you really want gray even though it is not the best with warm wood, try a white that reads a bit gray like Maritime White.

Warm, mid tone wood looks best with white, cream, greens and blues.

I wouldn't worry about what your friend thinks either. My husband's a doc and I did not think hospital blue.

When I think prison gray or office supply room gray (which I am NOT thinking with your kitchen) - now that is a problem:)

We tend to ask our friends for their opinions, and sometimes are taken back when they give it honestly. Sorry, I agree with her - I love the red so much better, it is so vibrant and warm. Maybe not red, but another color for your kitchen as I agree with her about the blue.........Best Wishes.

the silver strand is too green-gray. you need more of a brown/tan/cream gray tone.

While I dislike red, it does go w/the kitchen and your artwork better than the silver strand.

or any of these. this is a better blue if you want that color.

I prefer that over the red. That having been said, an off-white or cream might help the cabinets pop even more.

Here is a kitchen we did with darker cabinets accented by off-white colored walls.

Here is another kitchen we did with lighter cabinets (more similar to yours) that are also accented by cream colored walls with a slight texture applied to the paint.

God, I hate those pendant lights! Well, more exactly, I hate the light they give off. Look at the shadows on the walls above the cabinets and under the cabinets--strong, harsh--like an old horror movie. Look at the reflections off the cabinet doors and appliances; that's the look you get from point-source lights in the middle of the room. Even in the pics with the can lights on you can see the hard shadows. The only thing worse would be to have one of them.

Tone them down. Drop the wattage significantly. Install a few more lights to soften the shadows, or put drop-down globes/lenses in the cans to disperse the light.

I like the paint color, though..
