If it's your dream home, get what you like. If you're going to sell it within 5-10 years, go with the neighborhood.

If you are building in a cookie cutter neighborhood where all the homes are brick and every 3rd home is the same, go with the brick. If all the homes are brick, but of all different style and shapes go with the craftsman.

I agree with Lydia, love where you live. if it's your forever love it. if its an investment or whatever do what works for resale. don't come home reluctant. you deal with crap at work and people all day don't come home to something else you have to deal with. Refuge in the home you love.
