Carrara marble -please HELP! How much pitting is okay for brand new countertops?

The carrara countertops were installed recently in our new house, and my husband noticed a decent number of small pits in the stone surface of all the marble in the kitchen and master bathroom. They are small white indents. I can't inspect the marble myself, since I am currently on the west coast, the house is on the east coast.

For those of you familiar with carrara marble, is this normal?

I can see a couple of pits here or there is normal, but to have several scattered throughout everywhere seems odd. Did the fabricator do a poor job of honing the surface? (I have not been impressed with this vendor from the beginning). Can this be fixed?

I am attaching a picture of the marble, unfortunately it's not specifically of the pits, my husbands phone camera couldn't focus on them properly.

Thanks for your help!
