It looks like the room has plenty of light. If that is true, those colors would be lovely. But if the lighting is just in the picture, and the room doesn't get that much light in person, I would be careful of doing dark every where. It can really bring down the feel of the kitchen, as well as making it look smaller. But like I said, based on the picture it looks like the natural light would provide an excellent environment for a darker color scheme! I am a big fan of a grey kitchen, and always have been!

That's helpful - thanks! It gets great light! I didn't want to do dark wood ALL the way up, but really like the idea of grounding the bottom cabinets and using the gray to bounce light around.

I would leave the cabinets like they are but paint the walls with Benjamin moore balboa mist with your white trim around the doors. if you don't love the cabinets stain them a little darker. then change all your hardware to oil rubbed bronze color and your faucet too. !!!

I don't think those cabinets will take stain well. Try the stain on the back of an unobtrusive cabinet door or the inside of a drawer front to see if it takes.

They ARE veneer - I wondered about the stain. I assume that's why you think they might not take the stain? I'm definitely going to test them, but my backup plan was to paint them ALL - probably do a darker gray on bottom and lighter on top.
