Bedroom design - new paint color

last month

Hello, looking for coastal paint color to go well with this furniture and bedding. The color chosen in the room attached was Aquaverde by Sherwin Williams. Initially I did not realize that the color of the furniture was considered Soft Gray. As you can see depending on the lighting the color of the walls vary. We have purchased a new home and depending on which guest bedroom we choose there may be one or two windows. I wanted to go with the same color however I feel it is dark and does not match well. Thank you!

I wonder about Healing Aloe from Ben Moore - we used this recently in a guest bath and guest room and it’s a really nice color, fresh and flexible

The furniture stain is hard to tell, you say it is gray but it has a pinkish/purple undertone. You might consider a monochome look like a sandy beach with the wall paint and add coastal color through fabrications.

Something like Canvas Tan might work with the furniture or other color on this strip.

This lighter tone of your furniture (as I see it on my monitor) would be a lovely back drop for the furniture. Use a silver gray for bedding.

@tracefloyd has my vote... a soft sandy color to go with your beach theme.

Will make the furniture look richer too.

Paint the whole room, walls, ceiling doors and trims all the same color.

If you want to stay in the blue-green family, the color needs to be less green, more blue to go with the bed cover. But a warm neutral would work as well like the other commenters have said.

I like the color of the room right now. I think it goes with the furniture just fine, but, the bedding needs to be replaced. It looks a bit dated, and really doesnt go with the walls at all.

I like the current color. It's both cheerful and calming.

Votes on either of these? We did plan Sea Salt in another room so may change that up as to not have the same colors. I appreciate the feedback! We want to stick with a not so neutral color to add life to our beach home and will keep the bedding but will find another option to change it up.

I like the original color better than the Sea Salt or Topsail; both of those are kinda drab in the mockups IMO. But, did you test the color in your actual space? That will give a much better read of the color.

The color is nice and coordinates well with you current bedding. To lighten the room up, add more white into the furnishings, such as a white quilt. Then fold the current floral quilt and place at end of the bed. Add some of the navy blue from the current bedding into the decor pieces as well, such as table lamps. The picture above the bed is hung too high and also have a big grame. I'd reframe it and lower it, or try something different in the space.

Mirrors behind the lamps are also a good way to reflect the light in the room.

    Things that might help:

Pictures of bedroom. You have them already.

A fan deck from your favorite paint brand. Saves repeated trips to the store for paint chips. You might see something you had not considered initially.

ChatGPT or similar software. I have uploaded pictures and asked the software to color the walls. Note: I have seen differences in color between the chip and the rendering. You can get a general idea of the color effect, though.

Samplize stick on sheets. Use for your finalist picks.

To me the bedding is a bit juvenile so is this the master , a guest room what exactly.?

For something a bit different-don't know where you are, but there must be occasional fiery sunrises/sunsets. What if you bring some of those colors in?

    Fan deck might be useful.

IMO the colour is too dark. Which direction do the windows face?

Aquaverde has an LRV (Light Reflecting Value) of 49. This is not a large or bright room. I would look for a colour that has a LRV over 60.

    "Why LRV Matters

    • (<50): Absorbs more light; good for adding cozy moodiness, anchoring large spaces, or reducing exterior glare.
    • (50 - 60): The standard midpoint for interiors; helps keep rooms bright and daytime-feeling.
    • (>60): Highly reflective; great for maximizing natural light in small or dim spaces.

"Sherwin-Williams blues with an LRV (Light Reflectance Value) over 60 are crisp, airy, and maximize natural light. Popular choices include Topsail SW 6217 (LRV 74.9), Upward SW 6239 (LRV 57) [Note: technically under 60 but functions similarly], and Tradewind SW 6218 (LRV 61). "

you are right that the aquaverde is a bit heavy for the soft gray furniture. id go with a much paler blue-gray for the walls and add a solid gray throw blanket to break up the busy quilt pattern.
