IMO a wine cooler is a better choice and then a place that is a bit cooler to store red wine.

I updated back splash tile and counter tops in a home that had a wine rack above the separate bar area. Recommendation of taking down as I thought looked dated and bulky. Walnut shelf being installed shortly as finishing job this week. The home is only three years young and actually was surprised to see this feature, so obviously they are still in demand despite my opinion.

I sometimes include one in a design if there's the need for a small "filler" to make things work out. Not sure most people get full use from them, but they look snazzy. Just keep well away from stove and fridge (heat sources) if you're really going to use it!
