Carpet recommendations

We are getting ready to put carpet going up our stairs and throughout the upstairs. I have read that nylon is a superior product to Poly but I'm very discouraged when I look up carpet reviews. It seems that a lot of people have issues with carpet looking old and worn out after only a year of use. We have four boys so it has to be durable. Would love for anyone who loves their carpet to chime in and say what carpet you used. Thank you!

If you want carpet to last longer, you'll need the rule that everybody MUST wear socks whenever walking on the carpet.

I'm looking for new carpet to for the stairs and entire second floor. We are a family that wears shoes in the house. Any advice?

We’ve had our carpet for 9 1/2 years and it’s been great. We have 5 boys and we wear shoes in the house. I wish I knew what kind it is. We got it at Home Depot. It’s chocolate brown and it is textured with squares in it. It is one of the thicker kinds and is soft. I insisted on something soft that felt good to walk on and sit on. We have stairs and it has held up great. In our last house we had one of the speckled tan carpets that was popular around 2000 and it looked terrible after a few years. Is there a way to tell if it’s poly or nylon?
