You will have a hard time finding a slab of quartzite this large. You will need to look at quartz for this size .

If the slab size is your main requirement; granite may give you the most color selection. We are doing a project now where client did not want a seam in island, and had to re select stone as island was 11 ft long.

Quartz is an artificial material made of ground stone with a resin binder. It's popular because it's tough, durable and low maintenance, Not "no" maintenance, but low.

Quartzite is a natural stone, and genuine quartzite is very hard. It does need mainrenance, but it's gorgeous stuff. The problem is that softer, high maintenance stones are often mislabelled as quartzite, so you have to be very sure about what you're getting.

Slabs of any material is hard to get in that large a size. You might want to consider what is called a "bookmatched" pair of stone. This is available at most good stone fabricators but it is more rare and therefore usually more expensive. Here are some examples of how they can be pieced and seamed to create really beautiful results on islands and other surfaces.

The seam in down the center of these two slabs. The slabs are cut so when the are laid flat next to each other they match up. Hence the name. Very cool if you can afford it!

It depends on the granite, not all slabs are going to be available in 11 FT. What colors are you considering? Go visit a stone yard and see what's currently available.

Maybe mine were just installed poorly. The seam is near the sink and water has caused one side to rise so now it is uneven.

It sounds like water has gotten under the stone to a plywood or mdf board under the stone and when that gets wet it expands. Once expanded, it will never return to it original shape. The stone will have to be removed. I hope your home is still under warranty. If so, this needs to be repaired. You will have to shop for replacement stone to see what is currently available. Getting one slab that large will be difficult.

That's not a bad seam.

It’s hard to tell in the pic, but it’s lifted about an 1/8 of an inch.
