If you are growing that indoors then you did a fantastic job! I am just learning there are many orchids that thrive when not in a greenhouse and I am very happy to see proof of that thanks to Jane and many others here!

You are growing that one indoors right? What kind of sunlight in what window and how do you water yours to keep the roots happy? Do you use rain water or tap? Ice cube method? I struggle with Phals indoors but want to try again.

Yes. My orchids are grown indoors. They are grown next to a west facing window that receives several hours of filtered natural sunlight. At the moment, the potting media is sphagnum moss. When the flower stalk expires, I am planning on repotting it in a looser mix like bark, lava rock, etc... Just something that has largish chunks and allows for loose water drainage. I don't like how the sphagnum moss holds the water for so long. I use tap water for the orchids in my collection.

Duc, is that one fragrant? Looks like it. I have several with fragrance and would take a hundred more if I had the room..Expensive though)

Hello. To answer your question, no, this Phalaenopsis flower is not fragrant. I wish it was...but no. :)

like clockwork. Opens every Saturday morning for the past three weeks.
One more flower left...will be fun to see it because the bud is pretty

Congratulations! You're clearly doing something right to counteract everything this plant has been through and get blooms. Is this a standard size or a mini?

Beautiful orchid Duc! I was thinking the same as Mike, your phal looks similar to one that is fragrant. Sometimes they don't develop fragrance until after they've open for a few days. And apparently most phals smell the strongest from morning to noon or whenever they receive lots of light. Hope yours did develop one!

Hi Edie! Thank you for the kind words! :) I am thinking mine is a standard size. It's several years old now and have a good amount of leaves and all the blooms still look very healthy! Thank you again for the kind message :)

Thank you kvetchlambkin! :) Unfortunately, I do not think mine is aromatic. It has been several weeks and I definitely don't smell any scent but it's totally ok. I'm perfectly happy with what I have. Maybe at some point, I will attempt to find an orchid that produces aromatic blooms and see how I do. :)
