No they are not hostas. Hostas do not grow from bulbs.

They could be daffodils but it's hard to tell with nothing for scale. Whatever they are, they need to be planted NOW.

you might try the botanists in the name that plant forum ...

yes.. plant them about 3 or 4 inches deep ... general rule... 2 to 3 times the size of the bulb... they need to grow some roots this fall to store some energy for next spring.. no matter what they are ...

dont look like daffs to me.. more like hyacinths or scilla family .. whatever.. they will be nice spring flowers ... i would plant them a few inches apart so you can start a nice clump ..

They were underneath hostas I dug up - could they be a kind of weed?

You guys are right - we did have daffodils there last spring. In my enthusiasm to remove the hostas, I completely forgot about them. The garden is new to me and the hostas came with the house but they’re in full sun and get burned all summer. Thank you so much for identifying them (and for jogging my memory)!

the previous homeowners of my house had daffodils by some trees where they added too much soil..when I scraped the excess dirt away I could see the tops of the bulbs..I dug them up and replanted in the back and they look great..fun to see after a drab winter..

Definitely daffodils.

well they are rather smallish ... they may or may not bloom next year ... you can tell from the flat side.. that they were bulblets on a bigger bulb ...

if they dont bloom.. they might just look like fat grass blades ... try not to pull them out again .. lol ...
