I like the kitchen lab photo, I am a subway tile fan. Clean, simple, timeless and it doesn't compete with anything.

I think subway tile would look simple, classic, beautiful, and let your granite take center stage. I'd look carefully at shades of bone or off-white subway tile, making sure it picks up the lighter shades of your granite. Ceramic, glass or travertine would all be lovely.

Love your kitchen! I agree with feeny, subway tiles would not detract from your beautiful island counterparts!

subway tiles are just a trend, i will go for something more lasting for your kitchen ,that marble is too luxurious for subway tiles...I recomend you to go on with the same marble in big neat pieces for your backsplash

Beautiful kitchen...that is one of the prettiest pieces of granite I have ever seen! Great coordination of granite with engineered stone.

The one thing I notice is that so far, all you surfaces are quite pale, even the floor. The pale shades are very pretty, and you may want something a bit darker to bring in some healthy contrast. So let the backsplash run a little darker than the rest. With all the great choices you have made so far, I am sure you won't go wrong.

Emilio- the subway tile has been around since 1904. It has made a come back but one that is likely to stay and keep resurfacing.

Also, the term "subway tile" today simply refers to a rectangular shape of tile, whether in glass, stone or ceramic. So saying that "subway tiles are just a trend" is like saying "rectangles are just a trend". Certain applications of subway tiles will come and go, but the shape of the tile is timeless.

How about these? Particlarly the 3d brick. It's simple but the texture doesnt make it boring

If you can afford it, granite slab applied to wall would be stunning. If you want something that twists traditional subway tile, look at sizes different than 3x6.

Go stainless mosaic . Timeless and will bring a little glam into room.
