Help with garage and 2nd story addition on split level

Help!
I have a split level. I would like to add a front facing garage and 2nd story addition adjacent to the gable 2 story side.
I need help with design details. Is my working shed dormer a good roof line? What else should I incorporate? what to do with the barren center of the existing 2 story side. colors? should I paint the brick? I would welcome any and all advice and suggestions. I am including a photo in its current state as well as a working rendering. Currently the garage is side facing and will be converted to livable space. Thank you all for your suggestions and advice in advance!
