Looks great only advice is to paint out back of bookcases in black or navy blue..it will add such drama to your space..add larger white pottery to some of the shelves...less small frames...go big on everything!...cover some books in white card stock paper..stack them together...remove plant put it in a large pot on a stand in corner of room near the window..

add a big comfy cable knit throw on both sofas...add larger pillows no smaller than 22" with down inserts so they stand up on the corners of the leather sofas!

You are not tempted to add some side panel curtains, may just finish the look perhaps. Lovely room, like the idea of painting the back of the bookcase.

Irene I already order curtains for the windows, they are pretty neutral though. I'm thinking on adding a TV on center of the bookshelf. Do you think it's a good idea?

    Love your sofas!

I would remove those dinky sconces. I would paint the back wall of the bookcases a deep color as suggested and agree with the large art piece over the sofa.

    Then edit the shelves....

    Nice room!

I might replace trunk with a metal and glass coffee table. While the trunk does go with the industrial vibe and the linear feel, it’s a bit heavy. Big art with some color pop along back wall. Metal frame.

Art on the wall behind the sofa. Something colorful. And maybe fewer small objects on the wall unit. Nice space.

Yes tv will be good centred on bookcase

Agree with removing the sconces and adding art on the left wall.

Inject some color and add texture by changing your throw pillows.

Also, you need books on the shelves. For the love of G-d, please don't cover them with the stock paper (sorry, Home Interiors with Ease, but I disagree :).

Its really pretty. You need dramatic colorful art on the left wall and decor on the shelves and sofas that ties that in. I'm anti-curtains.

Also, I just noticed those sconces and they need to go. If you need more lighting in the room go for recessed.

Suzyq it's actually necessary, it gets pretty sunny in that room after 2:00 on. But I agree with you I'm also anti-curtains.

Bring in some artwork over the left sofa!

I love the room. I think the addition of a really rich rug to tie the two sofas together would create a much more energised, warm feeling. In that case you would not need to depend on your art for colour -- although there would be no reason for you not to use colourful art as well. But I've given you one of Geoffrey Johnson's beautiful people-and-cityscapes just because I've recently fallen a bit in love with his work.

I would not paint the back of the bookcase -- not because it wouldn't look great, it would, a different kind of great. But I love the actual design of the bookcase, the placing of the shelves, and one would lose that with a dark background.

I would not ad a tv or curtains. But like said above, large art over the couch and the light sconces removed. I like how it is modern yet you have the antique (look/real) framing to the bookcase. Nice room

I can't believe how inexpensive that planter/stand is! Love it!

How about a copper coffee table and paint the back of the shelves a dk blue or SW iron ore color

Add a little color. Or if you like a neutral look, add some texture and go a bit darker on the rug. Yours blends too much with the walls.

Have you seen the new frame tv by Samsung? This would be a perfect space for one on your bookshelves...

Hama..not all the books covered..just a few here and there to use as a base for a frame or pottery piece....especially some of the small ones...

Yes to a colorful rug, removal of sconces, & large artwork over sofa. The empty top shelf of the bookcase bothers me....it draws my eye. Fill the entire top shelf with books to bring the eye down and into the room?

I was thinking no drapes...remove the blinds you have and replace with natural woven shades...would look great with your sofas and keep the style you have going! I like the neutral rug it gives the room a more organic feel...look at getting some mud cloth pillows...

I love the ideas! The painting over the couch, a plant in a big pot on the floor, painting the wall behind the bookcase. Excellent.

Agree painting the back wall of the bookcase a dark rich color would really be beautiful. I'd add a large Fiddle Fig and I've always loved this piece...if you are a minimalist it would look nice in the room.

I really like neutral colors. I know if I add too much colors I would get bored.

Here are some mud cloth pillows...

love the framed art hung on the outside of bookcase!

I think something needs to be added to top shelf..I am sure you already know that....if painted out black you could add some large organic pottery on top...also would add some wall lights to flank book case or matching floor lamps would look amazing!

If afraid of the black for bookcases...you could use something like this instead...grasscloth wallpaper..
