Back from being Long Armed: unusually colored top

Remember this top I made?

I wanted to capture this complex yet bizarre coloration to show what I was working with. Strangely fascinating.

I enjoyed studying this fabric & how it was colored. Though from afar, it's odd.

My Quilt Guild has a member who reserves her Long Arm work for our charity efforts & she acts as liaison w/ fabric companies donating fabrics to us, like in this case, the novelty print is Liberty of London.

Look at this magnificent work (Janice your work is amazing).

We are so fortunate to have her & her efforts.

Here's the back, chocolate brown w/ white polka dots. Shows the quilting fabulously.

So she & I collaborated on this, it's thrilling.

Beautiful quilting. I'd love to try quilting a pattern like that, but haven't gotten up the nerve yet. But the charity quilts are a good place to practice.

It is unusually colored, but someone will love it. You both did a great job. How generous of you to donate it.

Yes Donna, it will be donated, perhaps to a womens' shelter, as have the other 2 Liberty-fabric based charity quilts I've done. This is the first I've had long-armed, it's exciting to get it back & see her quilting.

I've discovered this is an interesting way for me to work. I quilt for charity, but am given the fabrics in colors not of my own choosing, so it's a great design stretch to be forced to work in someone else's palette & style. It's become a rich experience I rather like.
