Need help with dining room wallpaper!

I'm going to paper my dining room but I've never purchased wallpaper before and don't know how much to order. Dining room is 12' wide x 14' long. Wainscot is 40" tall. Ceilings are 10' tall. There is a 36" doorway to butler's pantry on one wall, two large 31" x 72" windows, and a large doorway opening, about 10', to foyer. Paper is sold in double rolls, covering 60 square feet. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Nancy, the best thing to do is to get a quote from a local wallpaper hanger who can estimate the amount of material you'll need and also the type, e.g. pre-pasted, etc. And yes, per My3dogs, the pattern repeat will play a big part in how much you'll need.

Nancy, the repeat of the design in the paper, and the width of the paper is vital to determining the number of rolls you need. Are you buying the paper online?

Thibaut wallpaper finalists. I like the two on the right. I want something kind of colorful and playful, so I'm leaning toward "Bungalow" on the bottom right. My home has a coastal farmhouse feel so I think it would look really pretty. The top is a pale aqua and would also look great with all the white trimwork in the room, but is less daring, I think.

Are you putting up the paper yourself? If not I would have the installer you are using do the measuring.

If you are doing it yourself Mahones wallpaper has a tutorial for measuring online or there are others.

I will have to order through a designer and then will have it professionally installed. I just was hoping to have an estimate of cost before contacting designer.

As a rough estimate, you'll need 7 double rolls.

Look at the Mahones website. They also sell Thibaut but it may be slightly less through a designer.

oh gosh yes you can spend a fortune on a good paper like thibault, and thats not even talking about the installer. i'm not saying its not money well spent, but you dont want to be redoing it any time soon, if ever...

i used to buy mid range papers and hang them myself. those were the days... now i have thibault in my dining room and 1. i hope i never get tired of it 2. i'm glad my husband never saw THAT bill.

divide and conquer: how about just papering the wall with the two small windows? it's going to be difficult to 'decorate' that wall with art, having the paper might be just the thing.

I bought Thibaut paper thru Eade's Wallpaper in Olean, NY this past April and it was $75.35 per double roll, however not the designs you are interested in. You have to call for a quote, as Thibaut doesn't allow their prices to be listed online.
