This project is a beautiful example of reclaiming space while respecting the farm's rich history. Check out the before and afters of this crumbling dairy barn foundation being transformed into a rustic retreat complete with a bocce ball court!

Photo #1: AFTER- A pergola and trellises were constructed in front of the old foundation walls. A sunken oyster shell bocce court is the center piece of the space with benches along the top of the retaining wall for extra seating and to help define the space.

Photo #2: BEFORE- After years of overgrown brush was removed we could see what we had to work with. The front foundation wall had to be removed and rebuilt but we were able to keep the other three walls to preserve the authenticity of the space.

Photo #3: AFTER- The view on center of the reclaimed space. The seating area under the pergola overlooks a grassy field and out to a creek. Grapes grow on the trellises in front of the walls and the cultivated plantings within the space echo the prairie beyond.
