getting New Roof

We are ripping off our old roof and installing a new one !

Any advice on any of these questions below will be appreciated!


What color?

what style? slate look ? Architectural shingles?

what brand ? Owens Corning , certain-teed , GAF, IKO?

    Why would a black roof help in the winter time?

    If there's snow it won't help, because it's covered.

    And in most temperate parts of North America, winter is much more cloudy than sunny, and the sun is low in the sky anyway, so there is no thermal gain to be had.

    The biggest benefit is a light roof for limiting summer heat gain. The cooler the roof stays, the longer it lasts.
