Fire code question

This barn is absolutely gorgeous. I noticed the ceiling is wood and was wondering if you had to do anything special to meet fire code for a livable space above?

    Hi Justin,

    This particular barn does not have "sleeping areas" upstairs. As such it is classified as an accessory building. The building is completely wired with smoke and fire alarms as well as carbon monoxide detectors that are linked to main house. The floor above the garage area that you see in this photo is completely separated by a gypcrete floor which encases the radiant heat system above.
