Because your windows are a little different with the way they set in..I would do a double rod and hang super sheer...sheers..that go from ceiling to floor and do stationary full drapes on each side for a formal style...and make the windows appear much more grand....I would remove the mirror and extend the rods 10” on each side of window....your dining room is very pretty...if you don’t mind would love to help you out with the accessories:))

I see you have a pinched ceiling so would hang rod as high as you can on side window and same height on window that is on angled wall.

Not sure sheers would work because at night people could see in when the lights are on. The neighbors next door are quite close & their front door faces those side windows. (And I’m not fond of those neighbors anyway). Any help with accessories is welcome too!

Could you just replace the wood blinds with inexpensive honeycomb blinds that stack very small when not in use and in the evenings close them for privacy and the sheers would just be a soft accent over windows all the time..with the drapes. Will make the window’s look so pretty and cohesive..

Yes it is lovely..is it a stretched canvas? If yes would look beautiful with a floating frame added..very budget friendly...you can buy them online and DIY it or if you have a Hobby Lobby they are very reasonable.

Could you take a new image during the day so the room is brighter..it will help with color choices...I would change out your bulbs with LED ..I just changed out all my bulbs it is amazing the difference..tried all the different light colors..the winner is GE “daylight” you will love them...no yellow at all or that strange blue color...beautiful pure daylight!

Oh no they will be modern with bold drapery color...found some gorgeous deep red ...chocolate brown and deep teal drapes..we can do soft beige sheers not white..will be very contemporary / modern...what color do you want to bring into dining room?

I think those colors would be great. They would tie in nicely with the art.

I just re-read your comment about the drape colors and realized you meant which of those colors I’d like. Thought at first you found a print with all the colors :). I think the deep red would look good. Definitely not brown.

I would bring bright colors in with accessories not drapery because the room is fairly narrow and it might visually close the dining room in somewhat. You might want to go to local big box store and pick up some options and give them a test drive to see what combination appeal to you most and looks best in your spaces.

A deep saturated red would look amazing.....with all the neutrals in the room it will be the wow factor..I would keep accessories simple...red tulips or roses in a beautiful low glass vase or gold container will look so beautiful.

What is your budget for drapes and sheers?

I have taken a look and have a few options for you to consider. I am leaning toward a deeper gold for your room but you will have to get some samples and see what works best. Hope this helps. Each one has different color choices so go look around. But I think beige might be too boring and the red seems too much, so the gold might work well.

Julie I ordered this swatch as well. My concern is that I also need to replace the curtains in the living room and since they will be in the same line of sight shouldn’t they be the same type? I know I don’t want the red in the living room

The drapery is important from what you see in your space and I like to have rooms "speak" to each other without being matchy-matchy. A burnished gold would walk between a too light tone and a too dark tone, so once you get samples you will better be able to tell. I highly recommend a trip to BB&B or a local big box that has drapery, not that it would be the ones you buy necessarily, but getting a big swath of fabric will really help you visualize the colors in your space. JCPenney has lots of colors and choices as well. While the "fabric samples" help, I find most people really can't tell from the samples either and need bigger examples to visualize and it is faster to accomplish a decision as well. Might try that.

Oh no drapes in your home do not have to all be the same but complement each other from room to room..A dining room is a great place for a punch of color and red in a dining room is a great color it is stimulating color great for entertaining.....see what you think when your fabrics arrive...if done well it could really be stunning. The vintage ruby are just gorgeous and you will love the fabric.

Julie, your deep red won. Went to bb&b today and bought several different colors of neutral panels along with a red one. My bff & I were surprised at how much we loved it. Her word was “exquisite”. Now I need to know what type of rods to use.

Hey Kim...it will be stunning! Depending on your budget Pottery Barn has some really nice ones....otherwise Bed bath & Beyond is very budget friendly..I would do a bronze rod with the red drapes.

Julie, I realized I hadn’t posted a pic with the apothecary jars. They are the ones you found on eBay and they’re perfect! Also, I can’t seem to get the drapes to pleat properly. How do I “train” them? I’ve never run into that problem before
